Last Saturday was a busy day at TVF&R’s Station 67 in Beaverton, as some special kids from the Children’s Cancer Association stopped by to visit with their new
friends. Two TVF&R firefighters, Robert Petracca and Zach Wiens, are mentors in the association’s Chemo Pals Program.
According to the Children’s Cancer Association, the Chemo Pal Mentor Program pairs children and teens one-to-one with compassionate adults who offer supportive relationships throughout their chemotherapy or other cancer treatments. Chemo Pals are carefully selected from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. They spend time with young patients in hospitals, clinics and even at home to play games, take walks, read, do art projects, share hobbies and more.
