Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue’s Station 35 quickly extinguished a commercial fire inside a financial planner’s office this afternoon.  An employee at an adjacent insurance agency called 9-1-1 at 4:26 p.m. reporting heavy smoke in the office building at 15685 SW 116th Avenue in King City.  The 9-1-1 caller also reported that the affected office’s exterior walls were hot to the touch. DSCN0732

When the crew from Engine 35 arrived they found heavy smoke pouring from the entrance of a two story office building adjacent to a strip mall.  Employees at neighboring businesses and patients from a dental clinic on the building’s top floor were evacuating.  Because of the heavy smoke and the amount of people who were in the building at the time of the fire, the officer aboard Engine 35 called for a second alarm response.

As more resources began to arrive on-scene, the crew from Engine 35 forced entry into the office that was ablaze and quickly knocked down the flames.  Firefighters had extinguished the bulk of the fire within two minutes of arriving on-scene. DSCN0738

Additional fire crews from across the fire district arrived at the building and assisted the crew from Engine 35 in searching the building for occupants, knocking down hot spots, and salvaging whatever belongings they could from the affected office.

Crews from TVF&R’s Engine 50, Truck 51, Heavy Rescue 51, Engine 53, Squirt 34, Engine 33 and Engine 90 also  responded to the fire.  A total of 33 firefighters were called to assist.

Because of the quick response from firefighters, damage from the fire was limited to an office belonging to a financial coaching firm.  The office does not have fire alarms or sprinklers.

A TVF&R investigator is in the building this evening working to determine the cause of the fire.  No-one was injured.
