Morgan Bleak and his family pose with part of the crew from Station 69
October 31st was looking to be a very bad day for Morgan Bleak. Lucky for Mr. Bleak, that Engine 69 was just around the corner.
Mr. Bleak’s heart was failing and his wife was on the phone with 9-1-1. As dispatchers tapped-out a Beaverton unit to the incident, the crew aboard Engine 69 – returning to their station from a training exercise – heard the dispatch and reported that they were closer to the Bleak’s home. They immediately headed in that direction.

Bleak lays down on the floor at TVF&R's Station 69 and asks firefighters to show him the equipment and procedures they used to save his life.
When Engine 69 arrived, they found Mr. Bleak unconcious and unresponsive. His heart had stopped. The crew provided immediate advanced life support care for Bleak, starting an IV and hooking him up to a 12-lead EKG to shock his heart. The crew restarted his heart on scene and he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
“I don’t know how to thank you enough,” Bleak told Captain Mike Towner and firefighter Tom Eubanks, “you saved my life, and I will always be grateful.”
