Progress at the Progress Station

Station 53 092409 001Construction crews are raising the walls at TVF&R’s new Progress Station 53! After months of careful prep work on the land where the old Station 53 once stood, crews are using forklifts to frame the building wall by wall.

The old station at 8480 SW Scholls Ferry Road in Beaverton was demolished to make way for the new one, but its concrete walls and foundation found new life as fill for the new Bolton Fire Station in West Linn. This is one of many steps that will be taken to reduce the station’s environmental impact and will hopefully earn it a LEED rating. Both projects, plus the Willamette Station in old-town West Linn, are being built by CSI Construction. Bundling the three projects with a single contractor provided a $1.2 million savings.

The project is one of several funded by a $77 million general obligation bond for capital improvements approved by voters in November of 2006.  To learn more about all of our projects, click here.

STATION 53 RENDERING ONEWhile their new station is under construction, Station 53’s firefighters and paramedics are working out of temporary quarters at Whitford Middle School. This nearby location means the community will see very little change in response times. TVF&R appreciates the willingness of the Beaverton School District to make the space available.
